Rubies
Ruby carries more weight in Byzantine goldwork than almost any other stone — the red of imperial and ecclesiastical ornament. At the Damaskos workshop in Athens, it is set in gold within the same traditional forms: granulated fields, twisted wire borders, and protective bezels.
Stones are selected for depth of colour rather than size, and often paired with diamonds or sapphires where a composition calls for contrast. The result reads as inherited rather than designed.
Find rubies in 18K gold crosses and the Constantinata collection of double-sided pendants. All pieces are made to order with a Certificate of Authenticity.
