Peridots

Peridot was mined in the eastern Mediterranean long before it had its modern name, and ancient sources often confused it with emerald. Its green carries an unmistakable gold undertone — which makes it unusually sympathetic to the gold the Damaskos workshop favours.Rather than contrasting with the metal, peridot extends it.
